Hey, Where’s the Reachy Mini SDK? (And Other Burning Questions)
The Reachy Mini robot is cute, wallet-friendly, and officially available for pre-order! Maybe you have already secured yours, or maybe you are still on the fence. Either way, one question is probably on your mind: “Where is the SDK and documentation?”
You're not alone in asking—many Reachy Mini fans are wondering the same thing.
As of July 22, 2025, the SDK and documentation haven’t been released just yet—but they’re on the way. Hang tight!
We have combed through the public Discord channels hosted by Pollen Robotics to gather answers to some of the most common questions, so that you don’t have to dig through message threads yourself.
Disclaimer: We are not affiliated with the official Reachy Mini team, and nothing here is guaranteed. This info is just for reference.

What Will the SDK Offer?
Don’t expect a full feature set on day one—it’s going to grow over time, and community contributions will be a big part of that growth.
The SDK is expected to give developers access to key hardware features, including:
Setting and reading poses for movable parts
Accessing the onboard camera, microphone, and speakers
Abstracting away the low-level servo control details
A software architecture that supports sharing and using apps created by the community
What is the hardware like?
There are information in https://huggingface.co/blog/reachy-mini#🔩-robot-technical-info and here are some additional details.
Reachy Mini Lite will have a USB cable that goes from the robot to your computer, giving you direct access to the 9 servomotors (2 antennas, 6 head, 1 base yaw), microphone, camera, speakers.
The full version of Reachy Mini will be similar, but instead of your external computer, the components are connected to a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5. There may or may not be an external port such as USB-C - this is yet to be confirmed.
The camera is likely to be one of the following, again, TBC:
By the way, the two eyes are for aesthetic purposes, and there is a real camera between them.
There is a XMOS onboard for audio processing.
Can Reachy Mini Do X, Y, or Z?
Short answer: Yes... if you make it happen!
All software will be open-sourced, meaning the sky’s the limit—assuming you're ready to roll up your sleeves and write some code.
What are the pre-installed features/apps?
According to https://huggingface.co/blog/reachy-mini there will be 15+ behaviours “provided at launch on the Hugging Face hub”.
There are no promises on exactly what will be available. However, the “Hugging Face hub” mentioned above is already open to public and there are already some “Reachy Mini apps” shared. Check them out at: https://huggingface.co/spaces/pollen-robotics/Reachy_Mini_Apps
How do I build my own features?
While there are no simulator, SDK or documentation available just yet, you can look at the Reachy Mini apps already published at https://huggingface.co/spaces/pollen-robotics/Reachy_Mini_Apps to learn about building them.
Will Reachy Mini run on ROS2?
No. It’s going to a simpler solution. In the future there may be changes to make it compatible with ROS2 (Robot Operating System).
How big is the Reachy Mini community?
As of late July there are often 400+ community members online in the official Discord channel, Pollen Community.
